A Week in Review: What’s Happening in the World of Hosting

Web hosting businesses are continuing to expand this week with several adding new facilities through acquisition or construction, according to the Web Host Industry Review. More good news in the web hosting industry is the formation of several partnerships to expand services offered to customers.
On Monday, HostMySite moved their worldwide headquarters to Newark, Delaware to accommodate a growth in business and personnel and they plan to add 8,000 feet of data center space. By the middle of the week, Equinix expanded their European market by acquiring Virtu Secure Webservices from the Netherlands, a company with over 400 customers. At the end of the week, Alentus announced they would manage the service clients and acquire the data center of AOL Technologies and integrate their facility and network into a new international network. Clearly, the web hosting industry is growing every day.
Partnerships in the web hosting industry were also formed this week. The week started with the IPOWER announcement that it had integrated the RatePoint platform to include managing customer feedback in web hosting plans with a variety of new solutions in the upcoming year. On Wednesday, Hostway announced a partnership with the security provider AlertLogic to offer their customers the Threat Manager intrusion detection services to help optimize security. Near the end of the week, data center cooling solutions provider Degree Controls made the announcement it joined The Green Guild to bring greater energy efficiency into computing systems.
The announcements of expansion, acquisition and partnerships show the solid growth in the web hosting industry and the promise of healthy business for the year ahead.
